Tips and Inspiration for your European holiday

The Swiss Museum of Transport (Verkehrshaus) is located on the shores of lovely Lake Lucerne. The museum is home to a huge array of all forms of transport including trains, planes, cars, ships, cable cars and much more. Also on site are a Planetarium and an IMAX theatre and a display of communications equipment.

Verkehrshaus offers something for all ages and interests. Interactive displays encourage children to get hands-on whilst the range of transport exhibits from across the years is fascinating for adults. Rail buffs will love the display of rolling stock and simulators and there's also a model of the famous Gotthard railway.

I've visited the Swiss Transport Museum twice and found new things of interest on each visit. My parents visited the museum recently and despite spending three hours there, commented that they could definitely have stayed longer as there was so much to see and do.
