Europeans love to eat and whether they are at home or dining out, food plays an important part in their day. So you might be surprised to hear that when they are on a road trip, the freeway service station restaurant is a popular place to stop and eat.
There’s one major difference between the service station restaurants in Europe and in Australia, though - NO FAST FOOD!!
It’s rare to see a McDonalds or KFC at a service station restaurant in Europe, instead the Europeans sit down and enjoy a quality meal. It can even be enjoyed with a glass of alcohol.

When you are driving on an Autobahn (also called an Autostrade or Motorway) in Europe, don't discount the service station restaurant for your lunch stop. If it's good enough for Europeans, it's good enough for tourists, too!
