Favourite Foto Friday: Harder Kulm, Switzerland

This photo of my family enjoying a delicious lunch was taken at Harder Kulm near Interlaken. The Swiss town of Interlaken is a well-known resort in both summer and winter as its central location near the Bernese Alps and the lakes of Brienz and Thun, make it a great base for visitors.

We were staying at Lauterbrunnen, a small village not far from Interlaken and decided to visit for the day. After checking out the numerous shops, we followed the river towards the funicular station for the ride to Harder Kulm. With typical Swiss precision, the funicular smoothly took us to the top of the mountain.

From the top of Harder Kulm, the views over the Bernese Alps and the lakes below are great. Tables at the outdoor restaurant are in high demand, particularly around lunch time, but we were lucky enough to grab a table and enjoy a yummy meal. The waitress was very obliging and agreed to take our photo.

Taken on a warm summer's day, this photo always brings back great memories of the beautiful Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland.
