Hannah Holliday's Paris travel blog
Our roving reporter, Hannah Holliday, has set off on a four week road trip in Europe. After the long flight from Australia, she has now arrived at her first destination, Paris, and brings us the highlights from her first couple of days. Knowing I'd be arriving in Paris on a cold, late Autumn night, I'd decided to pre-book a transfer from Charles de Gaulle airport to our accommodation. I'm so glad I did, as, tired and jet-lagged, the last thing I felt like doing was battling the Metro into the city. The transfer with Paris Shuttle was great - the driver arrived promptly and delivered us safely to our apartment.
Sacre Coeur at Montmartre was well worth a visit. After some quiet time in the Church marveling at its splendor, we climbed the 300 spiral steps to the top of the dome for great views over Paris. The narrow streets around the Sacre Coeur were filled with shops selling the usual tourist fare and artists ready to draw your portrait.Galeries Lafayette was huge and very busy and there weren’t too many bargains to be found! The spectacular three-storey-high Christmas tree was worth seeing, though, as was the magnificent Renaissance domed roof of this amazing building. Hannah |
