The capital of Greece and one of the oldest cities in the world, Athens dates back more than 3,000 years.

B – Brussels: The largest Belgian city, and the capital of the European Union. Brussels is one of the best known chocolate making cities in the world.

H – Helsinki: The best known Finnish town is half water, with gulfs, bays and fjords, combined with lush green grass and snow capped mountains. How could you go wrong?

I – Istanbul: Although not fully European as it lies in Asia, too, the connecting Bosphorus Bridge is an outstanding attraction, and Istanbul is over-run by temples and monasteries.

J – Jersey: Being in the English Channel, Jersey is half English, half French. You get all the French luxuries in an English speaking country. Perfect!

K – Kiev: If you trek far east almost into Asia, then you will be rewarded with the treasures found in the former Soviet Union town of Kiev, such as the Central Botanical Gardens.

L – Lisbon: The Spanish city combines the old (medieval castles and historic town squares) with the modern (cable cars and shopping malls), to make a truly unique city.
