Located on the Tiber plains near Deruta - half way between Rome and Florence - Casa Andreoli, or its companion building La Capanna, is an ideal base from which to explore central Italy and the wonderful "jewels' of Umbria and Tuscany - Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Cortona, and the numerous hilltop towns.

Casa Andreoli is a fully restored tenant farmer house or “casa colonica” in the small rural village of Fanciullata, on the Tiber plains of Umbria, Central Italy. The original house has belonged to the Andreoli family since the 18th century and has been granted 'typical casa colonica' status by the Commune of Deruta.  The main restorations were carried out in 1977, with further updates over the past 10 years. 

The large sitting room on the ground floor originally housed the Chianina cattle belonging to the farm. The floor tiles in the sitting room are called “pianelli”, and, prior to restoration, formed part of the roofing of the house. Although they require a fair amount of upkeep, the beautifully coloured hand made ‘pianelli” are much loved by the Italians.

Since June 2010, La Capanna has also been available to rent. This companion building to Casa Andreoli is the original barn, and has been beautifully converted by the local artisans, with the addition of a charming portico. Ideal for outdoor living,

Casa Andreoli and La Capanna are set in an acre of fenced, fully landscaped gardens. The grounds include the old outdoor wood oven where the weekly bread was baked; the old pig sty, now converted into a small work room; and two wells, which supply water for the garden.

At Casa Andreoli and La Capanna you are surrounded by the hustle and bustle of traditional village life in rural Italy, while being within easy striking distance of Assisi, Perugia, Spoleto, Todi, Montefalco, Gubbio, Largo di Trasimeno, and endless delightful hilltop towns.
