Come and enjoy the peaceful setting of a small French village, tucked away in the midst of the Côtes du Rhône vineyards, just 10 minutes from the historic town of Uzès, France’s first Duchy and midway between the historic towns of Avignon and Nîmes. Located at the gateway to the wonderful countryside of the Cévennes, Alpilles and Carmague. Port Camargue, Le Grau-du-Roi and Aigues-Mortes are an hour away, as are the famous beach clubs and casino at La Grande-Motte.
Relax and unwind after a day of discovering the wonderful sights this region has to offer, or spend the day soaking up the sun by the heated pool. As the sun goes down enjoy a game of tennis or a more leisurely game of pétanque, before joining your hosts for an “apero” in the Degustation.
Mas d’Augustine, a former silk farm built in the latter part of the 18 century, retains many of its original features and has been restored with respect for the original architecture. With its beautiful arched entrance, stone stairs, terracotta ceilings and stone floors, the ancient charm of the house has been beautifully blended with the comforts we expect in this day and age by the owners, Jane and Gary Langton.
Leave behind the hustle and bustle of everyday life and step back in time, where past and future blend in perfect harmony, creating a retreat of luxury and calm. Year round you are well placed to enjoy all of the local activities. The history of Avignon and Nîmes, the famous Pont du Gard, the art galleries and potteries at St Quentin la Poterie and the famous Avignon Festival, are all within easy reach.
A trip to the famous Uzès market is essential, with over 500 stalls and live entertainment in the Place aux Herbes. Or join in the fun at one of the Fête Votives in adjoining villages throughout the season. For wine lovers, the famous vineyards of Les Costières de Nîmes, Tavel, Lirac and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, are all easily reached. For golf fanatics, just 5 kms away is Golf Club d’Uzès, a 9-hole par 36 course. Alternatively, Nîmes enjoys two excellent golf courses at Campagne and Vacquerolles.
Mas d’Augustine has five luxury ensuite rooms, individually decorated with original stone features and large walk in showers. Four rooms have air conditioning and one is naturally cool. To ensure the comfort of guests, the beds are all king size with memory foam mattresses and beautiful Egyptian cotton sheets.
A leisurely breakfast, served between 8 and 10.30 allows you to start the day at your own pace. Enjoy seasonal fruits, muesli, yogurt, cold meats, cheeses, eggs (boiled or poached) and a selection of freshly baked pastries with homemade confitures. At the end of the day enjoy a perfect summer evening, dining (subject to availability) by the floodlit pool or in the garden courtyard, with excellent food and a plentiful supply of French wine from the cellar.
