Welcome to Holidays to Europe

Carolyn, Holidays to EuropeHi, my name is Carolyn and I am passionate about travelling in Europe and would love to share my experiences and love of European travel with you. On the website you can read my articles about travel destinations in the UK and Europe and my blog is regularly updated with travel tips to make planning your holiday easy.

If you need some ideas on where to stay, what to see and how to get around, you've come to the right place! Holidays to Europe also serves as a directory for a huge range of (mainly) Australian-owned accommodation including apartments, villas and cottages as well as camping holidays, B&Bs and hotels.

The directory also lists a large range of small group tours in Europe and the UK (including women-only, White Christmas and food and wine tours), river and ocean cruising options, rail passes and car hire. All services can be booked directly with the owner/operator whose details you'll find on the website.

Happy browsing .... and happy travels!

7 week self-drive itinerary around Europe - the real cost

7 week self-drive itinerary around Europe - the costsI’m a big fan of the European train network and its speed and efficiency but with a husband who is more than happy to drive in Europe and our desire to visit out of the way places, I tend to find that the majority of our travels around Europe are by car. I’m often asked what added expenses should be allowed for when undertaking a self-drive holiday so on my most recent trip I recorded all the vital statistics related to our travels by car to give you an idea of what you can expect to pay.

The perched village of Peyre at the foot of the Millau Viaduct

Peyre, one of the most beautiful villages in FranceSome of France’s most photographed and famous villages belong to the association known as Les Plus Beaux Villages de France (Most Beautiful Villages in France). Think Gordes, Menerbes, Domme, Riquewihr and Saint-Guilhelm-le-Desert to name just a few. Equally as worthy of a visit, though, are the other members of this exclusive association and one such village that I discovered recently was Peyre in the Aveyron department of France.
